FROM THE WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, June 21, 2009....
The laughs are big....
Director Jamie Lawson makes sure there's no weak acting in this honky-tonk reprise....
Cheryl Roberts... shows us how to embrace truth.
April Meacham-Linscott....is a hoot as the woman who picked the wrong week to stop smoking.
Gray Smith as "Brother Boy" has outdone his previous flamboyant, cross-dressing characters.....

DEL SHORES: My Sordid Life

Del SHORES: MY SORDID LIFE
Theatre Alliance is proud to be the venue for this unique theatrical experience, coming to Winston-Salem....
One Night Only: Sunday, August 16 at 7 PM
DEL SHORES: MY SORDID LIFE is currently on tour across the United States, playing to the delight of audiences in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas... and now here!
An intimate evening with Del Shores, who tells the STORIES behind the STORIES from his plays, TV shows and film -- and more! Brought to you by Jason Dottley. Del Shores shares the real life stories that have inspired his writing in his new hit, nationally sold-out one-man show. Yes, there was a man with two wooden legs. But did his grandmother trip over them and die while having a sordid affair? Yes, prayers were answered and a matching vein was found in a vein bank over in Baton Rouge to replace his Uncle Humpty's collapsed one. And now you'll finally find out if Humpty really lost his leg after the answered prayers. And yes, Del's mother really did ask 'What exactly is that you ... do ... when you're gay?' Find out what the acclaimed playwright really said. Truth and fiction are finally separated in DEL SHORES MY SORDID LIFE.
This is not a Theatre Alliance season event, so we cannot honor Flexpasses.
COMING IN AUGUST...
The Great American Trailer Park Musical
Music and lyrics by David Nehls
Book by Betsy Kelso
August 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 2009 at 8 PM
August 15 and 22, 2009 at 4 PM
August 16 and 23, 2009 at 2 PM
Set in Florida, this hysterically offbeat musical features a love triangle between toll collector Norbert, his agoraphobic wife, Jeannie, and the stripper on the run from her ex-boyfriend, all narrated by a Greek chorus of trailer-park sluts. It's bold, brash and trashy, just like its subjects.
